Summary: Makes Yoga Accessible to All Levels
Comment: I am a yoga student and I have to say I love this book. It really breaks down each posture (asana) in terminology that is easy to understand and applicable for all skill sets. There are variations for beginners to more advanced skill levels. Plus the full color photos are a huge plus. I am very impressed with this book and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I would especially recommend it to those people who think they are not "flexible" enough to do yoga. The beginner variations make the postures accessible to everyone! Summary: A best-of-class book for beginners
Comment: Getting too long in the tooth and now a gym rat come-lately, it took me a long time to decide to give Yoga a try. To begin, I took this book out of the library and signed up for a class. At the gym, it was a little intimidating to work out with those youngish women. But this book, with its hundreds of detailed sketches of the way into the postures, as well as the information it provides about breathing, gave me the resource I needed. Now I'm into Yoga first thing in the morning and whenever I get tense or tight. A great book for beginners and probably for those well along on the journey. Personally, I meditate and do Yoga mainly for the physical benefits, which seem exceptional.

Summary: Great introductory book that can be used as reference as well
Comment: I have looked into buying a Yoga book so I can start the practice more seriously. I looked through many books, and I saw this one at a store the other day. I waited to look at the reviews although I loved the description and pictures I saw from the little I looked at the book. The reviews helped a little, but this was by far the best book in terms of pictures, details, and number of poses illustrated. It doesn't bother talking as much about philosophy and other details as much as it just shows how to do the poses. I also love the description of the various benefits that each of the poses may have or what they can help i.e. increase focus, increase circulation, stimulate digestion, etc. I have had it for one day, but I already went through the whole book, and I started practicing some poses. I can't wait to master them all.
