“I Learned About Flying From That” has consistently been one of the most popular features in FLYING magazine since the column began running in 1939. These first-hand accounts of flying disasters, from the pilots who lived to tell their tales, re-create some of the most exciting moments of flying. The fascinating stories are at times harrowing, humorous, embarrassing, and thrilling, but always informative. Every pilot will appreciate the lessons learned, and the adventures make fascinating reading for even non-pilots.

Customer Rating: Summary: I Learned About Flying From That Comment: If you are a Student Pilot or care about one, see that he/she reads this book. It could save their life in an emergency sitaution in the air. The author is obviously an experienced pilot, because it is assumed that one khows the meaning of the initialed abreviations for such things as atc, msl and so on. A glossory of such terms would have helped a non-pilot understand the work better.
Customer Rating: Summary: Here's to always learning about flying Comment: As a new pilot, in my initial excitement, I bought way more books than I could read. However, the I LEARNED ABOUT FLYING FROM THAT (columns in FLYING magazine AND the) book was one of the least expensive, most readable, most educational investments I made. I am planning to get the others in the series too. It is amazing how avoidable some accidents are, and how many lessons can be learnt from other unavoidable ones, so that we do not fall victim to them. Even the non-flying reader will immensely enjoy the books. And, come to think of it, they cost less than some fiction and less interesting books. ....
Customer Rating: Summary: Pilots do some wierd stuff Comment: I baught this book because I was thinking pilots were smarter than the articles I scanned. Some of the stories are unbelievable. You have to read this series to believe for youself.
Customer Rating: Summary: Laugh And Shudder At The Same Time! Comment: I am not yet a pilot, though I intend to be in the near future. I really enjoyed this book as it gave me insight not only into flying, but also into the attitudes of pilots. While reading this book, you really feel like you get into the heads of these pilots and see their philosophies. And it's fun to read as well!
