Customer Rating: Summary: Fashion Worthy but not worth the Cash Comment: Looks good but cost way too much! Other benches with the same features for less is what I would buy the next time.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sturdy bench for home use Comment: Having owned and consistently used this bench for over two years, it's about time I reviewed it.
I also have the matching SelectTech dumbbell set, and use them with the bench religiously 3 to 4 times a week. The bench has held up well, showing few signs of wear.
Initially assembly was straight-forward, but not painless. The hole tolerances and placement weren't exact, so getting everything together was a little time consuming.
Once together, as others have mentioned, it has a wide variety of bench and leg adjustments that work well. The vinyl covering looks brand new still. Once issue I came across was the two rubber end caps on the support brace for the incline. They quickly fell off, and I've had to re-glue them a few times. An easy fix.
The gap where the bench folds can be somewhat irritating, but I actually just use a small hand-towel rolled up and wedged in there for flat and slight incline exercises, and that makes it much more comfortable.
Everything else has held up well, the vinyl, foam, metal, welds, etc. still look fine.
While there is a premium cost associated with the Bowflex name, this is still a good buy. I would definitely purchase it again, and would recommend it for home use.
Customer Rating: Summary: bowflex selecttech bench Comment: This bench is basic but does all I need. Both the seat and the back are adjustable with the back going from from vertical to past horizonal (so that your head is lower than your feet. It is plenty wide which is a complaint about some benchs. It is heavy enough to be stable, but not difficult to move with the built in wheels. I would recommend this bench as a good bargain and a good complement to any home gym if you use weights.
Customer Rating: Summary: Very good all-purpose bench Comment: I purchased this bench with the intention of being able to complete a solid dumbell workout on those days that I could not get to my local gym. The assembly instructions are clear (which apparently is an improvement). The bench is easily assembled in about an hour. The construction is solid and there is no significant wobble. Position adjustments are quick. Although the gap between the butt and back pad bothers some people, it does not seem to be a major issue with me. As others have mentioned, the bench does not move on its roller wheels very well. All in all, the quality of this bench is comparable to what one would find in most fitness centers.
Customer Rating: Summary: Bowflex SelectTech 5.1 Bench Comment: I would give kudos to this fine consumer product for the home gym. It is nice and very adjustable. But what good is it for an outstanding product do be damaged time and time again via shipping. For me 3 times. This is not due to the quality of the bench nor the shipper, but the quality of the box. It is quite sub-par. It is flimsy and does not take very much to rip open the box and expose the contents. It also does not keep the contents stationary. I find it so hard to believe that such a good quality product and the reputation of such a company to put it in a non-sturdy box so that it can be damaged so easily. When Bowflex decides to get off of its duff, and produce a higher quality and sturdier shipping box, then I will be the first inline to purchase this product. Until then I will look at other alternatives. Because what good is it if parts are missing, or if the structure is heavily damaged.
