Customer Rating: Summary: real attention getters Comment: I bought these baskets in black about a year ago. They are awsome! I carry groceries, pet food, books, and even potted plants. They fold up out of the way when not in use. Many people have stopped me and asked where to buy these. I found them on Amazon. I tell people to go to Amazon to purchase them. The local bike store doesn't carry them yet.
I've only had a problem with the nuts coming off one time, when I dropped my bicycle on the street. That was painful! The baskets lost one screw and I lost a great deal of skin on my knee and elbow. The bike shope put nylocks on the basket after that.
These baskets will hold alot of weight. I have carried 2 eight pound bags of cat food in them.
Get these baskets and enjoy doing your errands.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Grocery Getters Comment: Got these. Tried to install while bike upright due to Lousy instructions. Found out easier to install with Bike laid on its' side. Then bottom center screw working up to top corners(Pre-Fit),on my Topeak Explorer Disc Rack. Rack too Slippery to work on in Upright position. Extra 5 Lbs.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Product Comment: I received this product in just a few days after ordering. It is of excellent quality and serves my purpose very well. The baskets fold up against the bike when not in use and therefore do not interfere with anything.
One other buyer had stated that they rattle but, I placed a taped "cushion" between the baskets and the bike and that eliminated that problem.
With industrial Velcro, two short aluminum angles, and a little ingenuity
I have them mounted where they can be easily detached.
Customer Rating: Summary: good value, very convenient Comment: the baskets work very well, fold away thin enough i can ignore them when not in use, and easily take a large paper grocery bag each when folded out. they turned my commuter bike into a grocery getter; no more balancing stuff in my hands or on the handlebars when riding!
some reviews say the standard, included hardware is difficult to install onto cargo racks made from "large" tubes. this is true. for reference, a Topeak Explorer rack --- with tubes about 10mm across, a bit less than three-eighths of an inch --- counts as "large". it can still be done with some bending, but it might have been easier to get some hose clamps or something from the hardware store.
installation in general is a fiddly affair calling for thin, nimble fingers. tools with long handles and magnetic tips would also help. not impossible for a regular person to do, but you may be in for about half an hour of cussing at it --- that's what it took me. it's on solidly now, though, and no rattling so far.
also recommended: Pyramid Bicycle Bungie Cargo Net, Black --- makes sure nothing will bounce out the top of the baskets, even on a bumpy road. this could be just a little larger, it doesn't quite cover the whole top of both baskets at once, but it does the job well enough.
Customer Rating: Summary: Folding Wald 582 baskets Comment: the baskets are easy to install, very sturdy and well built. perfect for halling just about anything that will fit. The folding quality is a great idea, makes storage alot easier. Great product.
