As you merge TV with audio and video, you suddenly realize that you need a basket to hold all the remote controls. For less than the cost of one basket, you can consolidate up to 8 remotes into one highly functional remote control. That's where One For All URC8820 Universal Learning Remote comes in. Even with a basket, you'd still have to contend with many remotes. With URC8820, all you need is one remote for all. Macro Functions - Define commands to meet your personal preference Surround Sound Functions - Comatible for use with HTIB and other surround sound systems and components Menu Funtion Guide Function Info Function EXIT Function Previous Channel Key Mute Key Permanent Memory Retention Uses 2 AAA batteries (not included) / Change batteries without losing your settings

Customer Rating: Summary: Non-existent customer support. One for None (not me anyways) Comment: Bought this here on Amazon. Could not find a code for my DVR. Tried ones listed in the tables. Tried searching using ALL device types. Tried (twice) to contact OFA for help/upgrade as documented in the manual. Got zero response/ack. NADA! Useless to me. Returned for refund. Also found a couple of documented "features" that did not exist/work, but was able to work around with learning function. Will not ever deal with companies with no CS.
Customer Rating: Summary: Get ready for some tension Comment: I own 3 of these. I've had one for over a year. It feels good in your hand and the buttons are well-laid-out and work well. It's a nice size and weight. It can really simplify your experience.
That said, prepare for some difficult times programming it. I hate the idea of having to reprogram one. When you enter the manufacturer's code, it might appear to work but you really don't know which buttons from the original remote will work until you test it. In theory, it's pretty easy to learn a button by using the old remote. But it's overly-complicated. The silly thing times out so quickly that it unnecessarily raises the tension level. You have to tell it things that should be implied. For instance, you don't go into a learning mode to learn several keys. It's one at a time. You have to hold down a key for several seconds, then type in a 3-digit code, then remind it of which device you are programming for, then click a key on the universal remote and the key from the original remote. It works about half the time for me. So, of course, you want to check to see if the programming worked. Often it will lock up with the LED on. I pull the batteries out and find that it's usually worked (other than hanging up). So get ready to swear.
I recently bought a RM-VL600 8-Device Universal Learning Remote, which costs only $10 more and does the same thing. It doesn't feel quite as nice in the hand but the programming is MUCH easier and more advanced.

Customer Rating: Summary: What A Value for the Price Comment: I just can not believe I can do so much with the remote and it only costs between $10 and $15. I have one for every TV in the house and have given them to friends and family members. I absolutely love the macro feature where all I do is press one button and it turns on my DVD player, switches inputs on my TV, turns on my A/V receiver and sets the correct input on the receiver.
The only bad thing I have to say is that it is not the easiest in the world to program and without the book you might as well forget it. Luckily I have three books. I also have a problem controlling the A/V receiver, but it does fine for the Directv Satelite box, TV and DVD Player. It handles the simplest of functions of the receiver like volume and input source just fine though.
Customer Rating: Summary: Stopped working in 10 minutes Comment: The LED failed on mine less than 10 minutes after I started to program it. Without the LED you can't set device codes or use learning mode, so it was effectively useless. I guess you get what you pay for...
Customer Rating: Summary: Didn't work with my Kenwood Stereo Comment: I wanted this remote to work with my Kenwood stereo, it worked with the TV just fine but it wouldn't for the stereo.
