Comment: Two very handsome collapsible grocery-bag panniers, highly water resistant if not classified as waterproof, & an "overnighter" sized suitcase.
I cannot verify the stated 57 liter capacity of this set-up. I can testify that my measurements came to 51.5 liters, thereabouts. A standard large grocery bag is 6.5 inches by 11.5 inches...then there's the length...these panniers are 11/11.5 inches high. Doing the math comes to 1719 cubic inches for the pair...more of less.
The suitcase measures 19 by 12.5 by 6. so that's 1425 cu. in. Add it to the panniers comes to 3144 cu. in. or 51.5 liters.
Aside from this little discrepancy about capacity this is a well made good looking carrier system. You can toss the suitcase in the closet and still have a competent set of pannier bags that will attach to any rack. And you can still plunk your rack-bag of choice on top. I think they were called trunk bags also. Kettler took the terminology out to the proper dimensions by designing the suitcase. Velcro plus buckles hold it on top.
The panniers come collapsed inside the suitcase. All you need do is slide the ends of the plastic stays away from the thread band...you don't need to cut the thread...you can leave it in place, and then tuck the plastic ends all around the inside the pannier. And wah lah a firm & rigid pannier body all around. I did say good looking? How waterproof I don't know. No instructions. We're on our own.
I wanted a set-up like this some time ago. My delema is getting six loaves of bread home. Light but lots of volume. This system seemed the way to go. But the original price stunk. Once again Amazon to the rescue. Thanks one more time Amazon. And thanks as well for the price for the "trunk" bag from Topeak as well!
