Comment: I bought these last winter for walking on snow and ice-covered backroads in Vermont. I got some Yaktrax Walkers first, but they wore out within a few weeks and these seemed like they would last longer, especially since they have replaceable studs.
Traction with the Stabilicers is fantastic! They're almost as good as crampons on gentler slopes and I could walk fairly quickly even on glare ice. They're pretty durable but studs can and will fall out if they're not regularly tightened and they do provide less traction as they wear down, especially at the toe and heel. As other people have mentioned, the strap system could be refined, and it takes a little while to get used to wearing them. But if you do a lot of winter walking, these are definitely worth buying and I don't think there's a better product currently available.

Comment: Stabilicers work great for moderate hiking. They are a good all-around solution. A simple and practical design.
This is my first good pair of traction devices. I like to hike, and in the winter months packed snow on the trail becomes icy fairly soon. That was my goal: something to make going up and downhill a bit more safe.
PROS:
* Good fit: I use a soft sided hiking boot and Stabilicers fit on snug when they are sinched down with the velcro straps...no slopping around.
* Excellent traction: walk on an icy surface with Stabilicers and you will be glad you purchased them.
* Overall, just a nice feel under your feet. The extra-layer of rubber under your feet in the winter probably has something to do with it.
CONS: None so far. Maybe, if you have a really bulky boot, like a Sorel, you might need to add an extension to the velcro.

Summary: Saves you from some nasty falls.
Comment: At first, I purchased the cheaper alternatives. Each winter meant countless falls on the ice. Subsequently, I fell and sustained a very nasty fracture requiring repair with pins and plates. Since I got the Stabilicers - no falls. WARNING: They will poke holes in your floors! But they also are helpful on black ice meaning that one negative is far outweighed by the freedom of mobility these things provide. I highly recommend these for anyone - woman or man - who wants to avoid the pain and injury from falls on ice.

Summary: Great in winter and summer
Comment: Clearly a great product for winter walks, but also in summer. I do a lot of nature photography year-round. In the summer, many stream beds become extremely slippery due to algal growth. These cleats let me walk without fear of slipping!
Why only 4 stars? Two reasons; the fit is not as secure as I would like, and I find I have to stop to tighten the straps. The heel in particular seems to slip out of position. I believe the attachment pionts for the heel straps need to be further apart. Second, the Velcro is fast to use, but less strong than good cinch strap.
Apart form these minor issues, they work well. I loop the straps together aroung by camera bag shoulder strap and put them on when needed.
