Summary: This Game is Insane
Comment: By all appearance this game may seem like a simple and fun game. But be warned, if you have a short temper or just have very little patients, you might want to think twice about purchasing this game.

My gripe with this game comes when I try to unlock everything. Suddenly all the fun antics about this game becomes annoying and will aggravate you to no end. I'll tell you it is no fun losing a race because you were cheap-shot to death. Normally these things wouldn't bother me however certain characters I want to unlock because they are not available at the start of the game. I can see having to unlock vehicles, that I don't care about that but why force me to endure all these headaches just so I can race as all my favorite characters? What will aggravate you even more about this game are the items you get in the item boxes littered throughout the stage. Too often they are items you can't even use. What good would a banana peel do me when I'm in last place?

I really hate that this game aggravates me so much because I like playing the game when I'm not trying to unlock anything. The racing wheel that comes with game is a nice touch and does add to the enjoyment of the game. (Although it doesn't really do anything)

Summary: This game is great!
Comment: Okay... so its been a VERY long time since I played mario kart. Think when I was 10 or so and had a super NES long time.

But this game has gotten more play time in our household than wii sports has, which is saying something. Its best to play with multiple players. I play this constantly with my husband and it keeps it enjoyable. For those who say that its all based on luck, there is a reason i consistently beat my husband out. Mostly because I race better. Yes, there are times where its just dumb luck and you're staring at the screen dumbfounded because you were lightening bolted, powed, red shelled, and then run over all within inches of the finish line but those times are relatively rare. As you can see when you play online, there are people who consistently do well and those who consistently do badly.

The wii wheel isn't worth going out of your way for. Everyone who's tried this game with us has tried it and discarded it. While it doesn't make play too uncomfortable, it doesn't offer any real help either.

Summary: Unlock Tracks/Cups in Mariokart Wii
Comment: This is a very good game for younger children - e.g., 5yrs, but they can become addicted to it.

How to open the new cups/tracks may be obvious to some people but not to me - an old geezer. The instructions are useless explaining that "More cups become available as you progress through the game." We have been playing it regularly now for months in VS mode, no change in cups being open.

To open new tracks/courses in MarioKart you need to open the four remaining cups that are initially indicated by question marks.

To do so, you must race in "Grand Prix" mode and obtain cups (not sure if gold is necessary) by racing and obtaining a winning (not sure if placing 2nd, third is sufficient) point total over four races of the initial race tracks.

It seems that combinations of cups are required in the same class (e.g., 50CC.) We had combinations of cups in different classes which seemed to not open up the new cups. The cup combinations had to be across the same class to open the new courses.

The 50CC class seems to be the easiest to win cups with and open up the new courses. That said, I still had to concentrate on Ghost Valley by sitting close to the TV and watching the top view of the course in order to place second.

If you open up the new tracks, you will be able to then vote on the new courses in the different cups when playing in the Wifi mode. The new courses are a refreshing change after playing the initial 16 tracks over and over again.

I would hope in the future, after exhausting all the current tracks, Nintendo will let us download different tracks using Wii points as well.

This game is fun for both adults and children. Highly recommended over MarioGalaxy for younger children as they learn to be in control on their own over time. MarioGlaxy is for older kids.
