Editorial Reviews:

When you cast it, blast it with the Rocket Rod--the fishing system that accurately casts its line up to 30 feet. Just point the Rocket Rod and let it fly. The patented design and rugged ABS construction will stand up tough to outdoor use. A safety bobber all but eliminates snags by hiding the hook until it hits the water. Once the bobber lands on the water, the lure/bait compartment opens to drop the lure/bait to the desired depth. It features a built-in reel, 6-pound line, and a storage compartment in handle for tackle pack and extra bobber. It's recommended for ages 8 years and older.

Propels unique safety bobber up to 30 feet.

Summary: immediately broke
Comment: My daughter was SO excited to get this, but the first time we tried to reel in the casting bullet (EXACTLY as per directions), the line broke and was lost in the reel which I had no choice but to take apart, thinking the line would be fairly easy to recover and put back together. NO. I'm a relatively mechanically inclined individual, and rarely do I give up on a project because I can't fix it, but this was a serious pain in the - neck. I suppose I could replace the reel or spend a few hours messing with it...oh yeah, I don't actually have a few hours to dedicate to that, so...to the garbage it goes. Very disappointing.

Summary: Piece of junk, Roland Martin, shame on you...
Comment: The rod itself feels cheaply made, all plastic, but I guess that's to be expected with a TOY like this. And yes, the safety button is an issue for smaller kids. But the biggest problem comes when the line tangles inside the reel, and believe me, it will happen. Incredibly time consuming to try and resolve the issue to get your child fishing again, and that's IF you can figure out how to make it work. Good/fun concept, horrible execution. You've been warned...

Summary: Piece O' Junk
Comment: Bought this for 5-yr-old for a vacation at the lake. It casts and it's fun to see how far it might go, but that's where all smiles ended. It constantly tangled and the reel kept falling apart. It was a pain to keep fixing and trying to put back together. We spent more time fixing than fishing. We returned it to the store immediately upon return from our vacation. Do yourself a favor and go pick up a $10 theme fishing rod from Walmart that comes with a little tackle box. It will be more enjoyable for everyone.

Summary: Great starter Rod
Comment: I bought 2 of these for both young children. I was impressed on how easy it was to use. For a very young child it may be a little heavy but still with some help would be manageable. Good quality, easy to use, user friendly and for the price really can not go wrong considering an average kids fishing pole/real kit runs $20+-.

Well worth the investment for those "Help dad, I caught a tree again" children. Recommended

Summary: a fishing rod?!!!
Comment: my daughters are 8 years old-this is not an item for them!!! We were all disappointed-we always go fishing, and my girls begged to have these. They shoot out about 20 feet, which is right in front of your feet, and they catch nothing!!! They do better with a rod and reel, and live bait. We have told everyone not to buy them, unless you have children who are 2 years old and want to act like they are fishing-otherwise, not worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
