Veteran fitness expert Denise Austin's Personal Training System is one of several exercise programs designed to take advantage of a valuable feature of the DVD format: namely, the ability for viewers to customize their own workouts by picking and choosing from various elements presented in Austin's prescribed routines. These include sections devoted to cardio (available at low and high intensity levels, both about 20 minutes long), upper and lower body exercises (offered at low, medium, and high intensity, each about ten minutes long), and abdominal and stretching segments (the same for all levels, these also last about ten minutes). Meanwhile, the "custom workout" option enables users to combine any or all of these elements according to taste and fitness level. There's nothing especially innovative here--indeed, the cardio sections are pretty much old school, Jane Fonda Workout-style aerobics, while the upper and lower body sections include light weights, bends, lunges, push-ups and other tried-and-true elements--but those looking for a thorough, sweat-inducing regimen will certainly find it here. Austin's relentlessly effervescent style will no doubt prove inspiring to some and cloying to others. On the other hand, the entire program can be done without her audio instructions, and those who simply don't want to work out at all can occupy themselves with an accompanying booklet filled with diet pointers and recipes. --Sam Graham

I liked it so much that I not only share it with a friend (leaving it at her house), but I got myself another copy to take with me to Shanghai, China where I am visiting my husband. While he is at work I do my exercises with Denise.
Customer Rating:      Summary: Boring workout with grating voice Comment: I really wanted it to have worked out for me, unfortunately it's way too boring for me and her voice really grated on me. If you want the result and a more fun workout DVD, try Kathy Smith - Functionally Fit - Peak Fat Burning instead. Hope this helps. I PUT THE WRONG STAR RATING. IT SHOULD BE A 1 STAR

I have had this video for years now and I still incorporate it into my DVD workout regimen, along with some others. I have lost 50 pounds using DVD's at home and counting calories. This is my favorite DVD!

She is the best on the market if you ask me. Her dedication to fitness is incredible and inspiring. I guess you can tell I'm a huge fan and have a wide variety of her VHS and DVD's This one is a favorite. I don't like the cardio much. Not easy to do in my living room and movement changes are awkward. I love the arms, legs and abs segments. Great for a quick work out before work. Overall this is a great workout DVD. I will keep this in my collection.
Customer Rating:      Summary: Wonderful Comment: I've had this dvd for over a year now and have used it on and off.
But only recently, 5 weeks ago, did I decide to start this dvd as a program doing each of the low, medium and high intensities for two weeks each. I started high this week and wow. It's tough but I'm finally there. I definitely see more definition in my arms and legs! Instead of doing her cardio I've been doing the treadmill. Her low cardio is useless, I don't break a sweat. And the high is a little all over the place, I can't really keep up.
The high intensity workout killed me today, I was impressed since a lot of the time her exercises seem a little easier than some other dvd's I have.
Anyway, I'm going to keep with this one doing the high intensity and maybe doing the medium and high together. I also have her Get Fit Fast and Shrink Your Female Fat Zones. I love them all, they're wonderful!
She's a lot to handle, sure, but I just laugh at her funny little comments and allow it to give me a boost and keep my going. Plus even though she's terrible at cuing she's great at reminding me to zip up my abs which really helps because sometimes I realize I'm letting them go, oops!
Great DVD, and a stretch segment, cherry on top of the icing on top of the cake.
