Summary: This is the one to get
Comment: I really can't say enough good things about this DVD. So simple, and yet so comprehensive. If you only buy one learn to ski video, this is the one to get. Tito's relaxed and positive teaching style gives the video a really soothing and hypnotic quality. (You could watch it just to chill out after a long day!) Right away, you will learn the subtle, but crucial differences that separate true expert skiing from everything else. And the more you understand this, the more you will become aware of the inefficient style most skiers have as they jerk, jump and skid their way down the hill. Armed with the knowledge in this video you will be able to rise above the -intermediate rut- as Tito calls it. You can stop fighting the hill, and start getting into a natural rhythm, automatically linking your effortlessly carved turns. And if you've never experienced this before, it feels good! If you ski on a regular basis, (and if you take your kids skiing), you owe it to yourself (and to them) to understand the material in this video, which is clearly the best of its kind. Thanks Tito. ***Afterthought: To be totally objective, I have to add one more thing... I have had discussions with some (expert level) skiers who think this video is way out of date, and does not apply to the techniques required with the newer shaped skis. I don't completely agree with this, and I think the basics today are still the same as what is shown in this video. BUT, I do agree that there is some validity to the argument that this video teaches the "old school" style of skiing. Just something to be aware of...***

Summary: Usefull but quite out of date
Comment: I was rather disappointed that this is just a DVD of a 1993 VHS tape. I read his book about 15 years ago and it was good, but this is just more of the same. I was hoping for updated content, but alas no. It's not that anything in the video is blatantly wrong, but it is not really up to date considering modern equipment (I used to have a pair of those SX-92s he's wearing...15 years ago). The turns shown do not really qualify as carved turns by todays standard. If you are a real intermediate, this has some useful info, but if you are an advanced intermediate this is probably below your level.

Summary: Gorgeous cinematography and music
Comment: This video came out before the new deep widecut carving skis were invented, but Lito has two others, one for bumps and powder, one for the new skis, which as a trio make a nice companion set. In the last DVD, he says that nearly all the techniques he demonstrates in the first one are still valid for the new skis, except the unweighted ski plays more of a role. But for pure poetry in motion, this video is superb. And the tips he provides are invaluable if you want to get out of the intermediate rut, regardless of whether you have thin or fat skis under your boots.

For iPod enthusiasts, Lito's three DVDs can all be converted to iPod video (including iPhone and iTouch) format, so you can take them on the road with you. And if you have an iPod dock and TV cables, you can show them on the TV in your hotel room. I used an open source piece of software called Handbrake to convert mine and it worked to perfection.

Summary: I'm Skiing better after one Viewing. Great Video!
Comment: After watching the DVD and followed the methods described and I improved my skiing immediately. The video is beautiful, it's a very mellow approach to skiing and enjoying the mountain. If you watch this video and follow the easy suggestions and method you will be skiing better immediately. Assuming that you have skied before and can make it down the mountain, this video will show you how to carve the snow for more stability and slower speeds, the video will show you how to let you skis make your turns and how to gracefully make it all the way down the mountains on even the more difficult slopes. Well worth the money. In fact, the entire set costs the same as an hour private lesson and this you can watch over and over as you improve your skills on the mountains.

Summary: So Visual!
Comment: Lito's instruction is so visual that after watching it you leave with the feeling that you know how to ski. It is like the movie "The Matrix" when Trinity had implanted in her consciousness the ability to fly a helicopter. The DVD is really aimed at the intermediate skier who has been stuck at the intermediate level and wants a "Breakthrough". I went from intermediate to advance in 4 weeks, skiing three to four times per week. During those weeks, I watched Lito's instruction over and over, paying attention to a different aspect each time and then progressing to the next. There is a reason that most of the reviews of this DVD rate it as superlative. It is superlative. The second DVD in the sequence is also fantastic, Bumps and Power. And, it is a natural progression, because after mastering the skills in Breakthrough I, you are going to be ready to progress to bumps and powder.
