Customer Rating: Summary: A good product that could be improved Comment: The video quality of the games varies. Some games are outstanding in quality (both Tampa Bay games, Green Bay, Washington, Minnesota) but some of the games are disappointing in quality. The Detroit game is especially bad. All of the games are out there and probably should have been included. Some of the editing is questionable and cutting off the introductions for the regular season games is unnecessary.
Customer Rating: Summary: 'Bout time!! Comment: PERFECT for every BEARS fan, esp. those of us who remember this historic season!!! As with most reviews of this product, only wish ALL of the games were included. The NFL will get it right someday!
Customer Rating: Summary: great addition for any Bears fan Comment: I was kinda scared off of this set for a while due to the price, but once I got it, loved it. This isnt one of those NFL films highlight features, this is the majority of the games in full from the bears run to the super bowl, it is missing a few of the regular season games (due to inability or cost of getting the rights to those games). Its great to see the game in entirety to see how truly good they were (especially how dominant Dent was, he was on the qb almost every passing play, HOF '09!!!!), also it is neat to see the production w/o all bars & graphs and madden drawing on the screen, its actually kinda refreshing / so if your a hardcore Bears fan, this is a must
Customer Rating: Summary: Da Bears Comment: I have been looking for this item for several years, so glad Amazon notified me it was available. Though it includes the best games of the 85 season I only wish it included the entire season.
Customer Rating: Summary: Quality - 2 out of 12 isn't bad Comment: After reading the other reviews I was excited to get a copy of this boxed set. I didn't care about who was on what cover and whether or not Barry Sanders should be there -as some have complained, but I was more interested in the quality of the actual game footage used for these DVDs.
Having viewed each disc, I will admit it is a pretty sweet set of discs for any Chicago Bears fan to own. Although, I was disappointed to find that two of the DVD's (disc-7 @Dallas, and disc-9 @Detroit) contained horrendous copies of each game.
The Dallas game looks to be straight off of someone's old & weathered VHS cassette recording - grainy, blurry & scratchy at times, and the sound is low and muffled. As for the Detroit game, I think the footage here was taken off of an old beta tape from a "rabbit ears" antennae feed. Seriously, the video is scratchy, and it contains diagonal lines in the back ground. Almost like the antennae wasn't quite tweaked right to get a more clearer picture - for those of us who still remember that.
The footage on the rest of the discs is pretty darn good - both in video & audio quality.
This set brought back a lot of memories from that season, and a reminder of all the excitement that the '85 Bears brought to the city of Chicago that year. I enjoyed hearing Johnny Morris and Tim Ryan's voices again (from the local Chicago feeds), and it was especially great to see Walter Payton playing ball again. Bears fans, particularly those who watched this team, will definitely enjoy this series.
