Customer Rating: Summary: Alex Kovalev "AK27" tips and training DVD review Comment: If you are a fan of Alex Kovalev you won't be disappointed with this DVD. It's informative and fun.
The are two DVD's in the set. One DVD is split between on ice hockey tips and off ice training. The other is background on "Mr. Kovi" and the Gift of Life Foundation.
The hockey part is skating, stick handling, shooting, and game situation tips. Nothing startlingly new here but it's great to get Alex's personal touch on the basics. He shows you how "he" does it. You can see how easy it is for Alex. When you get the the second DVD you see how hard Alex had to work to achieve his skill level.
The training part is good. He shows how you can train, and not only training for hockey, it's basic training for almost anyone who wants to stay in good condition. The DVD stresses using basic body movements with almost no equipment. His personal trainer interjects with guidance on how to do the exercises and Alex demonstrates the techniques. I like the how Alex really shows the movements and emphasizes them so that you can see exactly how you should do it.
The second DVD shows how "Mr. Kovi" achieved so much in his career. There is a nice documentary feature, and for me this was worth the price of the DVD all by itself. It traces Alex's feats from childhood to present and shows many of his great highlights from the great New York Ranger years.
The DVD profits are donated to the Gift of Life foundation; a foundation helping kids with heart disease. So if you by the DVD you will be helping a very good cause.
I'm really happy I got this DVD. You get a nice Kovelev trading card and poster inside the DVD case too. The card has a special code to access VIP features on the AK27 web site. So you will also get to enjoy that.
