Customer Rating: Summary: poor quality, low price, good value = mixed feelings Comment: i have mixed feelings about this watch.
i bought one directly from amazon, wore it for a day, and returned it.
i really, really wanted to like it. but just couldn't:
-the finish says "titanium" and it probably is, but what you can't tell is that it is powder-coated grey, underneath is the natural color of the metal, which looks much nicer except that it scratches easily, so the power-coated color makes it look all nice and uniform...for a few hours, until the scratches start to show up with normal wear. i suggest removing the coating entirely with a scotch-brite pad or brillo pad. then it's not half bad. bracelet is extremely lightweight and feels solid.
-the build quality is not very good. it's close, it's so close, but if you look carefully at this watch, you can press the bezel and it will rock back and forth where it shouldn't...even go a little clockwise and counterclockwise though it shouldn't...you can see how the face of the watch has basically the signs of cheap machining.
-what it looks like, is this:
it looks very much like "invicta" watches used to be made in switzerland, but are no longer. the company headquarters is in hollywood florida, down the street from my house. (the address says "invicta way" and then puts there real name of the street in parenthesis, since there is no such thing as "invicta way" and the post office can't deliver there). this movement is japanese, some of the movements are swiss ETA. but where are they made? where is the band made, who puts the movement in the case, where is the case made, where is the manufacturing done?
this, and other, invicta watches, come across very strongly as being made in china. how else can you explain the regular pro diver watch that has a MSRP of over $300 but is sold here on amazon for under $99? if you can sell a watch for $99 and still make money, it probably cost about $5 to build the thing. and that means it wasn't made in the US or Europe.
not that chinese is bad. they are really starting to make some nice products. but it seems fake, like it's trying to be something it's not.
the coin bezel is taken directly from the rolex submariner.
the numbering on the bezel, same thing. the hands of the watch,
are exact copies of the rolex submariner, the "mercedes hands" since it looks like the mercedes symbol on the hour hand.
so i had this watch, saw how cheaply it had been made. the cyclops seemed glued on or something, the mineral glass scratched easily as did the bracelet. everything felt poorly put-together. the power reserve on the miyota movement is really minimal, something like 10 hours before it stops. it's not very accurate in general, compared to other movements.
on the plus side, the coloring is very cool, sort of military-khaki,
doesn't weigh much at all.
but...the lume on the dial is horrible, really horrible.
i shined a flashlight on it directly for a few seconds.
it glowed very strongly...for about 5 minutes. then it was almost invisible. you can't see the face at night, it's the faintest possible glow. really annoying considering i was coming from luminox.
on the other hand, hey.
it's an automatic movement watch with a real titanium band,
at a price that many other companies are selling plastic digital watches for. what you get for a relatively low amount of money, is a lot.
so i would say it has good value. but is it a really really nice watch?
no. not really. i would look down at my wrist and think "this watch says that i want a rolex submariner but can't afford one" and "i am a cheap imitation". i couldn't take it. i broke down and just bought an omega seamaster. completely authentic, nothing imitation or fake or poorly done about omega. solid, beautiful, wonderful. where invicta fails is the "fit and finish"...the little details don't quite come off right. from a distance, this seems like a pretty okay watch. and if you're not real picky, and don't care if your watch is very accurate or how the glow-in-the-dark thing is, or any of that, then go for it. but if you don't like the idea that this is a rolex replica except for the word "invicta" printed on it, you might want to look around a little bit more.
i can say, that amazon was extremely gracious and couldn't have been nicer about me returning it. so i feel very good about dealing with amazon. it's invicta that doesn't quite sell me.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sharp-looking watch at a reasonable price Comment: So far I'm very happy with my watch purchase. It is a sharp-looking timepiece and seems reasonably rugged (I work on oil rigs and in refineries, so this is important to me). Time will tell how it holds up, right now I've had it for all of two months on my wrist and am very happy with the quality/style for the price.
Customer Rating: Summary: Invicta - Pro Diver Collection Automatic Titanium Watch Comment: Awesome watch at an unbelievable price, keeps acurate time with a japanese Miyota movement, never having to wind it is a big plus. The titanium bracelet can take a beating; the first day I wore it I scratched the band but the scratches and scuffs fade over time and give it character. Being titanium the watch is noticably lighter in weight than a Seiko or Tag, but just as durable. The best feature on this watch is the crystal backing, you'll love taking it off to show people the movements inside.
Customer Rating: Summary: need to wear them all the time Comment: Very short "idle" time. If the stay on shelf mode then 8 hrs, you will have to re-tune them. I call support they say it is normal.
Customer Rating: Summary: Do not weigh anything! Comment: This watch has the same form of other models of invicta and It's similar to the watches with oyster case, but Its weight (made in titanium) is three times less . If you look for a watch weighed and that it seems to be more solid treat one of steel that is more inexpensive also. For my this one in titanium is excellent. Additional it is automatic so it does not need batteries.
