Omron Body Fat Monitor Model: HBF-400 Omron developed optimal algorism through hundreds of data collection to provide better accuracy than other scale manufactures. This body fat monitor with scale is designed for family use with large display and 4 persons profile memory. It provide weight up to 330 lb, % body fat with 0.1% increments, BMI with previous reading. Chrome metallic giving upgraded image in bathroom. Bio impedance method: Body fat and muscle tissue have different levels of electrical conductivity. The Fat Loss monitor with Scale sends a safe, low-level electrical current through your body to calculate the amount of body fat tissue. This is known as the Bio-Impedance method. DXA and MRI have been the established method for accurate evaluation of body composition. Omron conducted the data collection from several hundreds people that reflects US population to develop the optimal algorithm. Even it takes long time and requires huge investment, quality/quantity of data collection is directly related to accuracy level. Only Omron is collecting MRI data for better accuracy. Comment: The product does what is says it will. The information the product provides is very useful in weight loss and general healthy weight. Percent of body fat, daily caloric needs etc all helpful & useful to know. Easy to use.

Summary: Accurate scale, but body fat measurement is suspect
Comment: This is a nice piece of equipment, seems to be well-made with a nice design. The scale was VERY accurate--no complaints there--but I mostly purchased it to monitor my body fat. That it did not do very well. I followed the instructions to the letter and repeatedly got incorrect numbers. The instructions say this scale is not for highly trained athletes or people with very low body fat, so heed that warning if that describes you.

Summary: Athletes do Not Purchase
Comment: Warning to atheletes: This body fat scale does not have the athlete setting. It therefore cannot make the correct assumptions about bone density, etc. to give you an accurate body fat measurement. If you are athletic (10 hours+ of cardio per week and resting heartrate of 60 or less), this scale will not work for you. I bought this scale and it told me my body fat was a full 10% higher than it actually is.

Summary: Scale is right on for weight, but to tempremental
Comment: This is a beautiful well made scale.The weight is extremly accurate,but when I try to get my bodyfat and bmi readings it turns into a hastle.I constantly get error readings, even after trying there cures.Eventually I do get them after quite a few tries.Maybe its me,but it sure is a pain.
