Editorial Reviews:

The Wireless Link keyboard was designed to be compatible with Compaq iPaq, Handspring, HP Jornada, Palm, and Sony Clie series PDAs. The Wireless Link keyboard comes with it's own built-in power supply, eliminating the power drain on your PDA from conventional PDA keyboards.

Summary: works for zaurus sl5500
Comment: As the title implies, i installed irk-zaurus, set some obvious configurations, and it was running immediately. Using 3.10 sharp rom, and screen rotation program.

This device is very slick in its design. It seems to me smaller, thicker-skinned, and tougher than the zaurus keyboards that i am used to. The device is 9 inches long, open. 4" long closed. Slightly over 3" wide. 1/2" thick. The outside skin looks like decently thick steel. The inner plastic housing has a gearlike construction in the hinge, and the spacebar resembles a gear itself. I don't know if such a thing makes it close more smoothly, but it looks neat.

One thing that the box says that i like is "energy saving firmware: power saving technology allows the keyboard to only utilize power when a key is depressed, providing the user with up to 6 months of uninterrupted use." I'll get back in six months to confirm or deny this.

One bad thing about the kb is that it has too few keys. There are no number keys, so you have to press num and q to get a 1. The backspace key is tiny, and right next to it are keys called date, address, to do, memo. Keys like that are perfectly useless to me, they get in the way, and i'm contemplating prying them out.

There's all manner of chicanery that comes with the device. Every stand arrangement you could concieve. Frankly, i don't trust any of the stuff, i haven't figured out how to make use of it, and i just lay my zaurus down in front of it.

4 useless keys too many, and 10 useful keys too few subtracts a star from perfect score.

Comment: I have a Zire 72, so this didn't work 4 me, but i resold it and it works fine for the other customer. Something about the OS 5 operating system...

Comment: I bought this keyboard for my iPaq 3950 hoping to use the PDA to take nots in classes. The seup instructions were great, I had to no problem setting up the stand and keyboard. When I went to type though, nothing happened. I move the keyboard around and the mirror...nothing. I check the battery.. still no luck. I Took the PDA off the and pointed it at the keyboard...fianlly some letter. I started typing (with the screen upside down) and noticed that random tabs were being inserted. I tried again with the PDA on the stand and this time I had some sucsess. I found the keyboard IR transmitter has to be in the a circle the size of a quater to work. Even then, the mysterious spaces are still appearing. Lucky for me Radio Shack has a return policy...
